La Sociedad Americana de Compositores, Autores y Editores (Ascap),
dio a conocer los 25 temas navideños más difundidos y la lista la
encabeza “
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town”.

Este tema, compuesto en 1934 por J. Fred Coots y Haven Gillespie,
ha sido el más difundido durante los pasados tres años.
Esta
inolvidable canción fue grabada por primera vez ese mismo año por
la orquesta George Hall y frecuentemente, es interpretado por
Bruce Springteen y The Crystals.
De acuerdo con la Ascap, otro de los temas más tocados es
“It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”,()
de Edward Pola y George Wyle, escrito en 1963, y grabado por Andy
Williams.
Hay dos temas que se incorporan por primera vez a la lista
navideña de Ascap, “Santa Baby” de Joan Javits, Phill
Springer y Tony Springer y “Having a Wonderful Christmas
time” de Paul McCartney.
“Santa Baby”, que fue un éxito en la voz de Eartha Kitt
en 1953, ha resurgido con gran interés en el mundo de la música
pop debido a la reciente grabación de este tema por Madonna.
Mientras que el de McCarney puede considerarse relativamente
nuevo ya que fue grabado por primera vez en 1979.
El segundo lugar en la lista de Ascap, la organización de
derechos de ejecución más grande a nivel mundial, es “The
Christmas Song”,
seguido
por “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas”
y por “Winter Wonderland”.
El quinto lugar entre los temas más difundidos es para
“White Christmas”
y
le sigue el popular “Let it Snow, Let it Snow”.
Además “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”, “Jingle Bell Rock”,
“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, “Little Drummer Boy”, “Sleigh
Ride”, “Silver Bells”, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of The Year”
y “Feliz Navidad”, del puertorriqueño José Feliciano, quien
figura como el único compositor latino en esta lista.
Ascap indicó además que el tema más antiguo entre los más
difundidos es “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town”, mientras que “White
Christmas” forma parte de la banda sonora de Holiday Inn en 1942.
