El gigante informático Microsoft anunció hoy un futurista ordenador plano llamado Surface que tiene forma de mesa y una gran pantalla táctil en lugar de ratón o teclado.
Se trata de un paso más allá en el hogar del futuro visto por Bill Gates, el cofundador de la compañía, en el que la voz y el tacto reemplazarán los teclados y ratones.
El producto, llamado Microsoft Surface, tiene una pantalla de unos 70 centímetros protegida por un plástico y permite tocar y mover los objetos en la pantalla para hacer puzzles, colorear (el usuario puede elegir los colores con el dedo, en cubos virtuales) o compartir fotos de manera muy intuitiva
Apodado “Milan”, se trata de un ordenador capaz de reconocer los artículos que se colocan en su superficie, como teléfonos móviles o cámaras de fotos, lo que permitirá, por ejemplo, descargar las fotografías de una cámara digital.
La multinacional dijo que se hará cargo de la fabricación del producto, que saldrá a la venta para clientes corporativos en noviembre.
Entre estos clientes se encontrarán la cadena de hoteles Sheraton, los casinos Harrah o las tiendas de la compañía de telefonía móvil T-Mobile, dijo Microsoft.
El Surface funcionará con el nuevo sistema operativo Windows Vista y costará entre 5.000 y 10.000 dólares, aunque la empresa dijo que en tres o cinco años bajará los precios para que esté al alcance de los consumidores individuales.
“Creemos que será una categoría multimillonaria, y predecimos un tiempo en el que estas tecnologías estarán en todas partes, desde mesas y mostradores hasta el espejo del pasillo”, dijo Steve Ballmer, presidente ejecutivo de Microsoft, en un comunicado.
Ballmer planea introducir el producto oficialmente hoy en la conferencia “D: All Things Digital” que se celebra cerca de San Diego (California).
