Advirtieron que se desarrolla más frecuentemente en mujeres, porque la mayoría de ellas ya estuvo expuesta a este elemento al usar joyas que lo contienen.
Los médicos de la prestigiosa entidad británica explicaron que esta dermatitis suele comenzar con una erupción en los cachetes de la cara o en las orejas, pero aclararon que también puede aparecer en los dedos que marcan los números en el celular.
La investigación sobre este mal comenzó cuando detectaron varios pacientes con una dermatitis cuyas causas no se podían identificar. Al buscar níquel en distintos tipos de celulares encontraron que estaba presente en 10 de los 22 modelos analizados.
Por ese motivo, la Asociación Británica de Dermatólogos está advirtiendo a los médicos que estén alertas ante la presencia de este mal. Creen que podría ser más frecuente de lo que se piensa, ya que muchos casos podrían haber sido mal diagnosticados.
