Panasonic presenta tres nuevos modelos de su gama de TVs HDTV VIERA compatibles con Internet y que permiten acceder a contenido de vídeo on-line directamente desde el salón, sin tener que utilizar ningún ordenador.
El servicio VIERA CAST se presenta en Europa con tres series de la nueva línea de pantallas planas NeoPDP de Panasonic (las series Z1, V10 y serie G15) y con dos series LCD Full-HD (serie V10 y serie G15).
La tecnología se complementa con una amplia selección de contenido on-line disponible gracias a la colaboración de Panasonic con importantes proveedores de contenido como YouTube, Picasa de Google, Eurosport y Bloomberg para noticias financieras e información meteorológica local. Para complementar el contenido exclusivo de Eurosport para el mercado europeo, Panasonic también ha formado una alianza con el radiodifusor alemán ARD.
VIERA CAST proporciona contenido on-line a través de una conexión a Internet local. Los usuarios sólo tendrán que conectar el cable Ethernet en la parte posterior del televisor a su módem router como si fuera un PC. Basta con pulsar el botón VIERA CAST del mando a distancia del TV VIERA para cambiar de un programa de televisión normal a la programación VIERA CAST en Internet. VIERA CAST no requiere ninguna cuota de alta ni subscripción adicional.
El contenido ofrecido varía según los mercados locales; además, los espectadores podrán seleccionar su propio idioma. Al inicio del servicio de VIERA CAST estarán disponibles un total de 1.200 vídeos deportivos en Eurosport, que se transmitirán en inglés, francés, alemán, español, italiano y ruso. El servicio empezará en mayo con la presentación de la serie V10 de VIERA, que estará disponible en tamaños de 32, 37, 42 y 50 pulgadas.
