Los usuarios del metro de Barcelona disponen desde ayer de cobertura para los teléfonos móviles GSM y UMT, conocidos como de tercera generación (3G), al 82% de la línea de metro (en 102 estaciones), según ha informado Transportes Metropolitanos de Barcelona (TMB).
La implantación de la cobertura telefónica empezó el 2005, con un convenio entre la TMB y los operadores Movistar, Vodafone y Orange, para compartir una infraestructura común.
El febrero del año pasado, 77 estaciones ya disponían de este servicio de comunicación tanto a los andenes como el interior del tren, y en noviembre se añadieron dos, después de la prolongación de la L3 hasta Trinitat Nova.
Los tramos que tienen este servicio son la L1 de España a Fondo -a 19 estaciones-, L4 de Ciutadella-Villa Olímpica a Trinitat Nova -a 14-, L5 de Cornellà Centre a Virrei Amat -a 21-, y a toda la línea L2, L3 y L11.
El acrónomino correcto es UMT con una S (del Inglés System) al final -> UMTS.
