Transmedia.cl – Microsoft presentó teléfonos, audífonos y otros dispositivos para trabajar con su software con el objetivo de reemplazar el teléfono tradicional de oficina y suministrar correos electrónicos, mensajes instantáneos y llamadas telefónicas por internet.
Microsoft, la mayor compañía del mundo de software, dijo que había trabajado con nueve fabricantes tecnológicos que incluyen a Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd y NEC Corp. para desarrollar hardware para trabajar con su estrategia unificada de comunicaciones.
En lugar de un sistema para teléfonos y otro para correos electrónicos y mensajería instantánea, Microsoft quiere que todas las comunicaciones funcionen gracias a las redes de internet con su programa Office Comunicator.
Microsoft prevé que el cambio de los sistemas de teléfonos basados en la web ganaran impulso en los próximos tres años, generando con el tiempo miles de millones de dólares en nuevos ingresos para la compañía.

Otros fabricantes de hardware que están trabajando con Microsoft son ASUS, Plantronics Inc., Polycom Inc., Tatung Co. Ltd. y Vitelix.
