Dos nuevas cámaras se suman a la gama más viajera de la familia Lumix. La serie TZ, popular por la versatilidad de su objetivo –de gran angular a teleobjetivo- y por su capacidad de grabar videos y fotos en un cuerpo muy compacto, presenta a las DMC-TZ30 y DMC-TZ25.
Con la TZ30, Panasonic supera su récord de potencia de zoom óptico en una cámara de estas características fijado a 16x por el modelo anterior TZ20. Y es que el nuevo objetivo LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR alcanza una potencia del zoom óptico hasta 20x y puede extenderse hasta el equivalente a 40x con la función de Zoom Inteligente (el doble que su antecesora). Esta prestación mantiene la imagen sin deterioros gracias al trabajo conjunto de la tecnología de Resolución Inteligente, que extiende el ratio del zoom hasta aproximadamente 2x, y el POWER O.I.S. con el modo activo, que eliminan la borrosidad causada por los temblores de las manos.
Por su parte la TZ25 es la cámara más pequeña del mercado dotada de un zoom óptico de 16x que con la función de Zoom Inteligente es capaz de extenderse hasta el equivalente a 32x.
Dispone de un Ultra Gran Angular de 24mm y de un sensor MOS de alta sensibilidad de 12,1 megapíxeles. Ahora, la TZ25 puede grabar vídeo en Full HD 1920×1080 50i (la TZ18 grababa en HD) y en formato AVCHD y MP4.

Nueva función de Mapa de Fotos
La serie TZ es popular por su sistema de GPS y se reafirma como tal con las nuevas prestaciones. Panasonic ha creado la función de Mapa de fotos, que permite visualizar desde la pantalla táctil LCD de 3 pulgadas el plano del sitio de dónde está hecha la fotografía. Simplemente hay que registrar la posición con el GPS cuando se toma la fotografía y la TZ30 muestra un mapa con el punto de ubicación y los alrededores.
La cámara viene acompañada de un DVD con mapas de la mayoría de países a escala 1/25.000 que el usuario puede copiar en una tarjeta de memoria SD para después insertarlos en la cámara. Con el sistema GPS, se muestran el nombre de países, provincias, estados, ciudades, pueblos y puntos destacados. El área de información cubre 203 países y regiones, además de incluir información de más de 1.000.000 puntos de interés. El reloj interno de la cámara se ajusta automáticamente a la hora local del lugar donde se encuentra el usuario para no tener que hacer ajustes cuando se viaja al extranjero.
Se pueden indexar los nombres de las localidades de las imágenes capturadas o incluso buscar imágenes por los nombres geográficos a través del software incluido PHOTOfunSTUDIO 8.1 Premium Edition.

Por otra parte, además de conservar el efecto Foto 3D, se han añadido nuevos: Efecto miniatura, Foto juguete, Enfoque suave, Tomas panorámicas, Retoque Automático y Retoque creativo. Éste último comprende 6 filtros
diferentes que son Monocromo Dinámico, Expresivo, High Key, Retro, efecto juguete, Soft Focus (desenfoque suavizado) y miniatura.
