Intentaremos responder con este breve articulo cuales son las principales diferencias entre ambos dispositivos.
Hardware
Los dos tablets poseen procesadores dual-core de 1 GHz lo que facilita una mejor experiencia a los usuarios al obtener una mejor respuesta del dispositivo a la hora de navegar o ejecutar aplicaciones. EMPATE
Pantalla. Motorola Xoom tiene una pantalla de 10,1 pulgadas con una resolución de 1280×800 pixel, ligeramente más grande que la de Apple de 9,7 pulgadas y una resolución de 1024×768 pixel. MOTOROLA XOOM, ganador

Sistema operativo. El iPad 3 corre bajo iOS 4.3 una versión muy madurada de un sistema que ha demostrado una gran estabilidad y buena respuesta. Por su parte el Motorola Xoom ejecuta Android 3.0, la nueva versión de Android ideada para tablets.
Al ser la primera versión que llega al mercado y sin mucho tiempo de testeo en situaciones reales nuestra balanza se decanta hacía el iPad 2. IPAD 2, ganador.
App Store vs. Android Market. Por el momento y dado de que el iPad lleva ya un año en el mercado, el catalogo de aplicaciones para el tableta de Apple supera y con creces el disponible para el Xoom o cualquier otro basado en Android. Ganador IPAD 2.

Uno de los caballos de batalla de los dispositivos basados en Android es su compatibilidad con flash (algo que también promociona Blackberry) frente a la cerrazón de Apple en este terreno. Sin entrar en consideraciones técnicas o de cuál de las compañías tiene razón, el soporte de Flash es un buen argumento para todos aquellos que les guste navegar por la web sin limitaciones ni problemas de compatibilidad. Apple nos orece una mayor variedad de modelos y a precios más económicos que el Xoom de Motorola. Aunque el precio de partida de ambos modelos es bastante similar (499 dólares) las diferencias son realmente notables en el tableta 3G y 32 GB cuyo precio es de 799 dólares por los 729 de Apple.
